Firestone supports popular music

The company’s founder, Harvey Samuel Firestone, was an exceptional visionary with many passions, amongst which music held a special place.

Back in 1928, while his tyre manufacturing company was in the process of becoming the market leader, he was behind the organisation of a song contest on the radio called “The Voice of Firestone” which went on to become a very popular radio programme.

This was an innovative idea which brought together musicians and music lovers every Monday night around a common passion for music. Every age category was invited to discover new talents, known and unheard-of musicians, and to attend the live shows. It was rapidly to become the most listened-to radio entertainment broadcast in the United States at the time.

True to its origins, Firestone continues to back young European musical talents by sponsoring musical events and festivals: From France to the United Kingdom, via Germany, Italy and Spain.

European groups take centre stage

These last years have been dedicated to setting in place operations to support grassroots music throughout Europe.

France: Rock en Seine

In partnership with Culturebox and the Région Île-de-France among others, Firestone accompanies and supports artists with the Club Avant Seine.
This is a programme essentially dedicated to promoting young artists and encouraging new musical talents to emerge in France.

The next edition of Rock en Seine is to be held in 2021 with prestigious guests such as:

United Kingdom: Road to the Main Stage

United Kingdom: Road to the Main Stage

In the United Kingdom, new young artists can take part in the Road to the Main Stage programme.
This is an event that was launched by Firestone in partnership with Professional Music Technology and Orange Amplification.

The winners have the chance to play at a leading UK festival and to make themselves known to the public. Among these groups are:

  • The Lustras
  • Fire Fences (2017 winner)
  • Scarlet (2018)
  • EL-Emcee and Nuns of the Tundra (finalist 2017)

Germany: Emergenza festival

With the Emergenza festival, Firestone aims to support young German artists by propelling them to the front of the stage.
The objective of the festival is to give young ambitious musicians the chance to follow their dream of a musical career. The lucky ones get to take part in the Tauber Valley Festival world final.

To support popular Italian rock music, Firestone is involved in an event which allows unknown young artists to be heard by music loving fans and industry producers.

Firestone’s musical road trip continues to Spain to uncover new musicians thanks to its Ruta Live Music programme.
